Dr. M. C. Jain, Director Career XL Services has been a scientist , an Instrument Engineer and a teacher by profession. Born in the historic city of Agra in 1942, he did his education from Agra : High School from DAV Inter College, Intermediate and B.Sc. from St.Johns College and M. Sc. from B.R. College. He secured Ist Division in all these examinations
After completing his M.Sc. in Physics with Electronics in 1964, he joined Sri Ram Institute for Industrial Research, University Road, Delhi and worked on Moisture measurement and its control in textile processing. For a brief period of three months he also worked as Junior Scientific Officer at Aviation Research Centre, New Delhi.
In August 1966 he joined as Lecturer of Physics at St. John's College Agra and taught Physics to B.Sc. and M.Sc. Students.
In 1968 he joined the Division of Agricultural Physics at Indian Agricultural Research Institute New Delhi, as Assistant Physicist (Instruments).
In 1971, he was appointed as Maintenance Engineer (Instruments) in the Division of Soil Science of the same Institute. During this period he repaired a large number of instruments used for soil/water testing and agricultural research.
Here he also started a course entitled "Instrumental Methods of Analysis" which became very popular course for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students of IARI. He was also responsible for establishing a Central Instrument Laboratory at this Division. Here he was also involved in the project on Biogas Technology and was Principal Investigator of ICAR Coordinated Project on Renewable Energy Sources from 1987 to 2001.
He visited Moscow , Leningrad and Odessa of the erstwhile USSR in 1983 under Indo-USSR Exchange program. In 1985 he was sent for training on Mass Spectrometer to U.K. He visited Vietnam under UNESCO assignment on Teachers Training on Laboratory Instruments in 1987.
In 1993 a new Division of Environmental Sciences was established at IARI and he was one of the founder members of this division. He was also Professor of this new Division from 1994 and later worked as Head from 1997 till his retirement. During this period he has guided 3 M.Sc. and 9 Ph.D. students. Emission of Greenhouse Gases (methane and Nitrous Oxide) from agricultural sources and their contribution to the Global Warming.
During the research project of UNDP-IRRI on methane emission from rice fields, he has visited Philippines, Indonesia, China, Thailand etc. His work on methane emission from rice fields is cited in many international Journals. He has published about 100 research papers in national and international journals. He received Best Teacher's Award for the year 2000 at IARI. In 1998,under AHRD project sponsored by World Bank , he visited University of California , Riverside and LA, Rice University in Texas and University of North Hampshire at Durham and exchanged his work on climate change with the scientists at these universities. He had an opportunity to meet and discuss with Prof. Rowland Sherwood, Noble Prize Winner in Chemistry 1995.
In 2001 he took voluntary retirement and established Career XL Services to serve University of Leeds, Leeds, UK up to September session. The major responsibilities were recruitment of students to the various Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses of the University and to promote the brand name of the University of Leeds Seminars, Counseling / Interview sessions were organized at major cities like Mumbai, Ahemdabad, Baroda, Kolkata, Patna , Lucknow, Jaipur, Bhopal, Indore etc, besides regular counseling at their office at Barakhamba Road New Delhi. Lot of counseling was done at British Council offices all over India.
Dr. M.C. Jain Director Career XL Services then joined Rai Foundation as Educational Consultant & Dean in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. During his stay there he helped in establishing relations with University of Northumbria of the Uk and Edexcel. During this period HND courses in various subjects were also started at Rai Foundation. He was also deeply involved in the recruitment of students for SEAS and has attended various Education fairs organized by Education Times, Assochem, Career Launchers, HT Horizon etc.
In 2003 he joined an NATCOM Project on Climate Change at National Physical Laboratory New Delhi as a Guest Scientist under the leadership of Prof. A.P. Mitra. In the same year he also wrote two chapters in the Book on Environment and Agriculture for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). In 2004 he also formulated a training programme on Agri-electronics for the Department of Electronics (Govt. of India). Even now he regularly undertakes guest lectures at IARI New Delhi, TERI New Delhi, Central Fertilizer Laboratory, Faridabad , PDM Engineering College Bahadur Garh etc.
From July 2005, Dr. Jain has focused his attention on Study Abroad Consultancy under the umbrella of Career XL Services in addition to his other academic and research activities.
